Insulation grants are available
In 2008, the Government announced a scheme to help homeowners and tenants with the cost of insulating their home. Insulation grants are available to homeowners and tenants looking to reduce their energy bills, and make their home more eco-friendly by installing insulation.
The grants are part funded by the government, and part funded by the energy companies (at a cost of 910 million! Source: Energy Saving Trust).
How do I apply for insulation grants?
If your home has not received wall or loft insulation in the last 15 years, it will more than likely require fresh insulation. Insulation grants are available to assist you with this cost.
Grant eligibility varies according to your financial situation, age and property type. Homeowners or private tenants eligible for a 100% grant won't have to shell out a penny in order to receive cavity wall or loft insulation. There's nothing to claim back, as it's all handled by the insulation company.
For residents who do not qualify for a grant of 100%, the good news is that you could still receive insulation grants for up to 70% of the cost of insulation!
For the average sized property, wall insulation should only take 2-3 hours, and roof insulation approximately one hour.
The quickest and easiest way to find out how much you're eligable for.
